
All About Jefferson Animal Clinic
Jefferson Animal Clinic was founded in January of 2015 by Dr. Marin Boghean. Dr. Boghean is a veterinarian who had been serving the Jefferson County area with large and small animal services for over ten years. In January of 2019, the practice was purchased by Dr. Ovidiu Trofin, a long-time associate of the practice. Under Dr. Trofin’s leadership, the practice continues to offer the same level of quality care and compassion, while integrating new technology to expand our diagnostic capabilities.
Our Team

Dr. Ovidiu Trofin, DVM
Dr. Ovidiu Trofin, DVM, is the owner of Jefferson Animal Clinic as well as one of our veterinarians. He is a 2008 graduate of UASVM in Iași, Romania. After coming to the United States, he completed the rigorous AVMA-ECFVG program and exams to obtain his US veterinary license.
Dr. Trofin has his USDA accreditation and is a member of AVMA, PVMA, MOVMA, American College of Veterinary Radiology and American Laser Study Club.
His veterinary interests include ultrasound and ophthalmology, as well as soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Dr Trofin’s has a special interest in CO2 surgical lasers which started back in 2012 and since 2014 he only uses Aesculight CO2 laser for all surgical procedures. In 2020 he becomes member of ALSC (American Laser Study Club) to further expand the continuously growing knowledge in laser procedures in veterinary medicine.
When not here at the clinic, Dr. Trofin enjoys traveling, photography, playing guitar, sports, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Ramona, and their four children.

Dr. Deborah McClaine, DVM
Dr. Deborah McClaine, DVM, is a Clarion native who graduated from North Carolina State Vet School in 2010. After graduation, Dr. McClaine returned to the area to practice in a small community where she can form lasting relationships with the clients and patients that she serves. Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and internal medicine. When not at the office, Dr. McClaine enjoys traveling, golfing, hiking, and spending time with her husband, two daughters, and extended family. She also enjoys the camaraderie of her rescue cats and beloved mutt, Dixie.

Laura, Technician/Office Manager
Laura started working in the veterinary field in 2004 as a veterinary assistant. She continued to develop her technical skills and began working as a technician a few years later. Now she splits her time between working as a tech and helping to manage the day to day workings of the office as the office manager. Her veterinary interests include emergency/critical care medicine, client education, and animal behavior. When not at the office, you will find Laura with her husband and young children at home, making cards and crafting or traveling. Laura has a rambunctious blue heeler mix Geno and two cats, Jackson and Coraline.

Sam, CVT
Sam is a 2015 graduate of Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a certified veterinary technician. She grew up in the Brockway area and always had a special interest in 4H, FFA, and local agriculture and youth groups. Her interests here at the clinic include venipuncture, large animal medicine, customer service, nutrition, and dentistry. When not at work, Sam enjoys outdoor hobbies, including hunting, farming, and fairing, and stays busy as a mom to twin toddlers and a baby boy. In addition, Sam has a large crew of fur babies, both large and small, including her dogs (Bubba, Diesel, Skylar, Ranger, and Rhett), cats (Cleatus, Garfield, Kiki, Luna, Blue, and Fluffy McFlufferson), rabbits (Bingo and Rolly), chickens (Henrietta(s) and Henry), and her dairy cattle.

Sammy, CVT
Sammy is a 2018 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a certified veterinary technician. She joined our team after successfully completing her VTI externship at our clinic. Sammy is from Jefferson County, and she enjoys exploring the outdoors through kayaking and relaxes with painting and reading. Her veterinary interests include animal behavior and exotic animal medicine. When not caring for her patients here, you can find her spending time with her cat, Callie.

Abby, CVT
Abby graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She joined our team as a kennel assistant and recently been helping our team as a certified veterinary technician. Abby was born and raised on a farm and has been interested in veterinary medicine since she was five years old. Her veterinary interests include large animal medicine, zoo medicine, and biomedical research. When not at the clinic, she enjoys playing with her two cats and adventuring outdoors.

Brittany, Customer Service Representative
Brittany is a 2018 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She joined our team in 2019 as a veterinary technician and customer service representative and has interests in phlebotomy and dentistry. Brittany is a mother of two boys and loves spending time with her family and pets. When not at the office you will find her in the woods hunting or watching Criminal Minds. Brittany has 2 pit bulls named Sky and Taz, a bulldog named Beefy and a Siamese cat named Simon.

Dani, CVT
Dani attended veterinary technician school after completing her bachelor’s degree in biology. She has been working as a CVT since 2005 and enjoys working in the laboratory and internal medicine. When not at work, Dani enjoys singing, reading, scrapbooking, card making, cross-stitch, and spending time with her husband, son, and cat, Squeaks.

Kayla, Customer Service Representative
Kayla joined our team in 2019 as our receptionist. She grew up in the Brookville area and enjoys customer service and getting to greet all of our patients as they come through the door. When not greeting guests, she enjoys being outdoors, camping, boating, and being her son’s #1 fan at his baseball games! She also enjoys spending time with her German Shepherd mix, Honey, and caring for her chickens.

Mary, Kennel Assistant and Customer Service Representative
Mary joined the JAC team in 2019 as a kennel assistant. She has always been involved with animals, mainly horses, through her work with 4H and Saddle Club and is now pursuing her interest in animals as a potential career opportunity. Mary enjoys anything outdoors, including hunting, hiking, and horseback riding. At home, she cares for her chickens, geese, and three dogs Bowie, Benny, and Poppy.

Brian, Kennel Assistant
Brian obtained his BS in Agribusiness and Large Animal Science then began working in California and New York with horses. In 2019 he moved back to the Brockway area, where he grew up, and joined our practice as a kennel assistant. His interests in the clinic include pediatrics, surgery, and therapeutic laser. When Brian isn’t working, he enjoys reading, playing video games and spending time with his pets. His menagerie of animals includes his cats Daisy, Pixie, Mo, Raven, Tabitha, Splinter, Goose, Mai and Kyoshi as well as his dog Simon, rabbit Alex, and rat Oliver.
