Dr. Ovidiu Trofin, DVM

Owner/ Veterinarian

Dr. Ovidiu Trofin, DVM, is the owner of Jefferson Animal Clinic as well as one of our veterinarians. He is a 2008 graduate of UASVM in Iași, Romania. After coming to the United States, he completed the rigorous AVMA-ECFVG program and exams to obtain his US veterinary license. Dr. Trofin has his USDA accreditation and is a member of AVMA, PVMA, MOVMA, American College of Veterinary Radiology and American Laser Study Club. His veterinary interests include ultrasound and ophthalmology, as well as soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Dr Trofin’s has a special interest in CO2 surgical lasers which started back in 2012 and since 2014 he only uses Aesculight CO2 laser for all surgical procedures. In 2020 he becomes member of ALSC (American Laser Study Club) to further expand the continuously growing knowledge in laser procedures in veterinary medicine. When not here at the clinic, Dr. Trofin enjoys traveling, photography, playing guitar, sports, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Ramona, and their four children.

Dr. Deborah McClaine, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Deborah McClaine, DVM, is a Clarion native who graduated from North Carolina State Vet School in 2010. After graduation, Dr. McClaine returned to the area and enjoys practicing in a small community where she can form lasting relationships with the clients and patients that she serves. She strives to treat every patient as her own. Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and internal medicine. When not at the office, Dr. McClaine enjoys traveling, golfing, hiking, and spending time with her husband, two daughters, and extended family. She also enjoys the camaraderie of her rescue cats and beloved mutt, Dixie and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Penny.

Dr. Michaela Lauer, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Michaela Lauer (Noble) moved to the area in 2011 to pursue her undergraduate degree at Clarion University. She enjoyed the area so much that after graduating from veterinary school at Ohio State University in 2023 she returned to our area and joined the JAC team.

Dr. Lauer has a passion for education and focuses much of her appointment time on client education, helping owners get the best outcomes for their pets. She also mentors our support staff through training workshops that focus on common diseases that we see in our practice.

Dr. Lauer’s veterinary interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, nutrition, and exotic companion animal medicine. When not at the office, she enjoys jogging and other fitness activities, aquariums, crocheting and spending time with her husband and pets. She is currently mom to two rescue kitties named Tilly and Ivy.

Laura

Certified Veterinary Practice Manager

Laura started working in the veterinary field in 2004 as a veterinary assistant. Over the years, she has worn many hats including technician and office manager. In 2022, she passed her CVPM exam and now manages the practice full time. Her veterinary interests include emergency/critical care medicine, anesthesia, client education, and animal behavior. When not at the office, you will find Laura with her husband and children traveling. Laura’s pets include her Golden Retriever, Zoey, Bernese Mountain Dog, Lilith and her tabby cat, Coraline.

Sammy

Certified Veterinary Technician

Sammy is a 2018 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a certified veterinary technician. She joined our team after successfully completing her VTI externship at our clinic. Sammy is from Jefferson County, and she enjoys exploring the outdoors through kayaking, hiking and camping or relaxing while painting and reading. Her veterinary interests include emergency/critical care medicine and animal behavior. When not caring for her patients here, you can find her training her Corgi, Juno and snuggling with her cat, Callie.

Abby

Certified Veterinary Technician

Abby graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA after pursuing her undergrad at Pitt-Johnstown. She joined our team shortly afterwards as a certified veterinary technician. Abby was born and raised on a beef farm and has been interested in veterinary medicine since she was five years old. Her veterinary interests include feline medicine, orthopedics, dentistry and physical therapy. When not at the clinic, she enjoys snuggling with her cat, Sheba, traveling, hiking and reading. Abby has 2 indoor cats, Sheba and Colt, as well as barn kitties and a herd of cows.

Brittany

Veterinary Technician

Brittany is a 2018 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She joined our team in 2019 as a veterinary technician and has interests in phlebotomy, dentistry, laboratory and animal behavior. Brittany is a mother of two boys and loves spending time with her family, reading and riding buggies. Brittany has dogs: Beefy, Taz, Foof, Bobo as well cats: Moo Moo, Luna, Spiderman and Bumble Bee.

Sam

Certified Veterinary Technician

Sam is a 2015 graduate of Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a certified veterinary technician. She grew up in the Brockway area and always had a special interest in 4H, FFA, and local agriculture and youth groups. Her interests here at the clinic include venipuncture, large animal medicine, and dentistry. When not at work, Sam enjoys outdoor hobbies, including hunting with the love of her life Levi, hobby farming, and fairing, reading, and stays busy as a mom of 5 kids. In addition, Sam has a large crew of fur babies, both large and small, including her dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, chickens, ducks, steer, goats and a donkey.

Dani

Certified Veterinary Technician

Dani attended veterinary technician school after completing her bachelor’s degree in biology. She has been working as a CVT since 2005, and enjoys working in the laboratory and internal medicine. When not at work, Dani enjoys singing, reading, scrapbooking, card making, cross-stitch, and spending time with her husband and son.

Mary

Veterinary Assistant

Mary joined the JAC team in 2019 as a kennel assistant. She grew up in Brockway and has always been involved with animals and participated in 4H. She is currently attending Clarion University to pursue a biology/pre-vet degree. Her veterinary interests include pediatrics, phlebotomy and working in the laboratory. When not at school, or at the office, Mary enjoys anything outdoors, including hunting and hiking and she spends most of her time with her fur babies, Bisbee and Bowie.

Sydney

Veterinary Technician

Sydney is a 2020 graduate of The Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa. She joined our team as an intern during her final term at school and was hired to work as veterinary technician shortly after. Her areas of veterinary interest include phlebotomy and surgery. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her cats Taylor, Guts, Clementine and her dog Ryder. She also loves reading and spending time with her family.

Mattie

Veterinary Assistant

Mattie grew up on a farm in a small town in Clarion County, where she still resides. After highschool Mattie attended college to pursue a fine arts degree. She then worked in the mental health field for 10 years before changing course to follow her lifelong passion of working in veterinary medicine. She joined the JAC team in 2021 and has interests in large animal/ equine medicine, neurology, and rehabilitation. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, as well as working on antique cars with her brother and father. She also enjoys playing piano and snowmobiling. Mattie’s pets in include dogs: Lincoln, and Nash as well as chickens and cats: Hushpuppy, Conway Kitty, Rogue and Pennywise.

Ori

Veterinary Technician

Ori joined our team in 2022 after graduating from Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her veterinary interests include venipuncture, equine medicine, pediatrics and radiology. When not at the clinic, Ori enjoys reading, drawing, painting, and spending time with her friends and family as well as her cats, Winnie, Baloo, Rue, Peanut and Bodie.
